A day in the life of an international student: How Samsung innovations can help you thrive in Canada

Anita wakes up at 7:30 a.m. to her Samsung clock app. She picks up her phone to check her calendar and plan her day.

She’s grateful she signed up for the Samsung SmartStarts program after she moved to Canada to go to university and got $50 off her new phone.

She checks her calendar and sees she has class at 9:30 a.m., so she checks her transit app and plans to take the 8:53 a.m. bus.

In the classroom

In her Organic Chemistry class, Anita pulls up Samsung’s Note Assist.

She loves how Note Assist instantly improves writing and note-taking with automatic formatting, summarizing, and spell-checking.

Anita uses an S Pen on her Galaxy Tab to take down written notes then uses the Clean Up feature to straighten her handwriting and quickly convert it to text.

She notices that her friend Camille from Quebec isn’t in class, so she has Note Assist translate her notes to French before sending Camille a copy.

In the lab

Anita gets to work on a titration with her lab partner George. To focus on the titration, she uses Note Assist to record her conversation with her labmate and save transcripts in Samsung Notes.

Catching up with family back home

After dinner, Anita calls her grandparents. As she starts the call, she feels a twinge of regret about not having grown up speaking Hindi…

The feeling quickly passes after her grandma answers the call. Samsung Live Translate breaks down the language barrier in near real time, making the conversation feel effortless and allowing Anita to share the highlights of her first few weeks with her grandparents.

Hanging out with friends

She gets off the call with her grandparents and takes a walk to meet Camille for coffee.

Since Camille feels more confident speaking French and Anita isn’t fluent with the language at all, they use the Interpreter app, which translates in-person conversations in real time.

Not only does the app audibly translate what they say, but it also displays a transcription in English and French, making the conversation easy and fun.

Anita shows Camille how she can also turn on the Interpreter app in Listening mode, allowing her to listen to translations directly through her Galaxy Buds.

Camille is so impressed with this feature as well, as the French translation from Organic Chemistry, that she is determined to get a device of her own to help with translations and interpretation.

Anita refers Camille to Samsung SmartStarts, so Camille can also get $50 off her S24 device. They make plans to visit the mall during the weekend to see the phone in person at her local Samsung Experience Store, and buy some new clothes to prepare for the Canadian winter.

Before they leave, Anita takes a photo and shares it with her parents back home.

Preparing for bed

After she gets home, Anita reads through her summarized notes from the day to ensure she’s up to date with her classes and assignments.

Before bed, she checks her calendar and sets her alarm, looking forward to the next day.
