CanadaVisa.com was launched in 1994 by the late Attorney David Cohen as the online presence of the Cohen Immigration Law Firm. Cohen Immigration Law has been helping people achieve their Canadian immigration goals for over 45 years.

CIC News was born in 1996 and has become the world’s largest Canadian immigration news website. Back then, Canada’s immigration department was called Citizenship and Immigration Canada, or “CIC” for short, hence why we named our website CIC News. While the department’s name has changed to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), this website remains steadfast in its mission to provide trusted, authoritative, and timely updates on Canadian immigration.

About our Founder

CanadaVisa and CIC News were created by the late David Cohen, a Founding Partner of the Cohen Immigration Law Firm.

David Cohen was a remarkable family man, entrepreneur, and visionary. He committed his life to assisting others.

Upon graduating from McGill University’s Faculty of Law in 1972, David dedicated his over 45-year career to helping people obtain Canadian immigration visas and permanent resident (PR) status.

David Cohen was the Senior Partner at Cohen Immigration Law, one of Canada’s leading immigration law firms. He was invited by the Canadian Parliament and Senate to deliver expert analysis on Canadian immigration law and policy.

David started his practice as an immigration attorney in 1976, at a time when the government of Canada was radically changing its immigration policies and regulations.
