Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, and PEI select candidates

Four provinces held immigration draws for candidates through their Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP) this week.

Most candidates were invited through economic immigration streams which selected them for their professional experience, current employment, education, and other employment-related factors.

Provincial immigration results (November 21-29)

Alberta

On November 21 the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) held a draw under the Alberta Express Entry – Priority Sectors stream, targeting 96 candidates who had a job offer of full-time employment in the Albertan healthcare sector.

To be considered in this draw, candidates needed:

• A minimum score of 42 according to the AAIP scoring criteria;
• A valid work permit;
• Language proficiency equivalent to a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) or Niveaux de compétence linguistique canadiens (NCLC) 5 or higher;
• A valid Express Entry profile that expires on April 21, 2025 or later;
• A Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of at least 300; and
• A job-offer of full-time employment for an employer in Alberta in the healthcare sector (with appropriate licensing to practice the occupation in the province, if necessary).

British Columbia

On November 26 the British Columbia PNP (BCPNP) held two immigration draws.

The first was a general draw across three different immigration streams. The PNP issued seven invitations in total.

The second draw occurred under the Skilled Worker and International Graduate streams (including EEBC option). At least four candidates were invited based on their employment within an in-demand sector of the British Columbian economy.

Manitoba

On November 22, the Manitoba PNP (MPNP) held three immigration draws under three different streams.

The first draw took place under the Skilled Worker in Manitoba stream and issued 89 invitations to candidates with a minimum score of 840 under the MPNP’s scoring system. Apart from meeting base eligibility for the stream, to be considered candidates also had to have profiles that declared a Manitoba Supporter who:

• Is a close relative, a Canadian permanent resident or citizen; and
• Is an established resident of Manitoba that has resided in the province for at least a year;

The second draw took place under the Skilled Worker Overseas stream and invited 25 candidates who had a minimum score of 617. In addition to meeting eligibility requirements of this stream, candidates also needed to have declared being invited by the MPNP under a strategic recruitment initiative to be considered.

The third draw took place under the International Education Stream and invited 165 candidates who met the eligibility requirements for this stream.

Of the 279 total candidates invited in these three draws, 55 also held valid Express Entry profiles.

Prince Edward Island (PEI)

On November 21, The Prince Edward Island PNP (PEI PNP) held the first immigration draw in close to a month, under the Labour and Express Entry stream.

59 candidates were invited in this draw. To be considered candidates needed:

• To be currently working in PEI in the province’s healthcare and construction sectors; or
• To be currently working in PEI’s manufacturing industry, with a work permit expiring in 2024.

The province has issued 1113 invitations over the past 12 months.
