As part of Samsung’s commitment to support newcomers on their transition to life in Canada, Samsung is working to address obstacles like language barriers through innovative products, services, and technologies.

Live Translate

As a newcomer, you may often need to communicate over the phone to people speaking in other languages, for example when ordering food or speaking to a customer service specialist.

Live Translate is an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered feature that translates your phone calls directly on your device in real-time.[2] This feature can be used on Samsung phones, including the Galaxy S24.

Notes: At the time of release, 13 languages (for 17 countries) are supported. Some of the supported languages listed below are only available by downloading a language pack; additional languages will be added in future updates. Live Translate currently supports the following languages: Chinese Simplified, English (India, United Kingdom, United States), French, German, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish (Mexico, Spain, United States), Thai, and Vietnamese.

Interpreter App

You may also experience instances when you will require translation services outside of phone calls, for example if you are listening to a lecture or communicating with someone who speaks a different language.

Samsung’s Interpreter app translates in-person conversations in real-time[3], or with the Galaxy Buds3 Series, you can turn on Interpreter in Listening mode, which allows you to hear the translation directly through your Galaxy Buds.

This feature can also be useful when exploring Canada’s wealth of tourist attractions. On the spot, Interpreter can translate what your tour guide is saying, ensuring you’re able to learn about Canada’s rich history.

Notes: At the time of release, 13 languages (17 regions) are supported, more languages will be added in future updates. How to Register for SmartStarts

SmartStarts is a program open to all newcomers to Canada (above the age of 18) who have been in Canada for no more than five years.

Note: Eligibility for Samsung’s SmartStarts program requires newcomers to possess* one of the following Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) documents: a study permit, work permit, or permanent residence card. The IRCC document must contain a valid issue date and cannot be expired.[5]

(the “Service Provider”) confirming the verification process has been completed, AND (iii) received an email from Samsung containing the Offer details along with an e-voucher (the “E-Voucher”) during the Offer Period (“Eligible Customers”).

PLEASE NOTE: The Service Provider will verify all documents submitted by customers during the registration process and will send either (i) a follow up email if additional documentation is required or (ii) an email confirming that the verification process has been completed. Samsung and/or through its Service Provider, in their sole discretion, reserved the right to refuse participation in the Offer if appropriate documentation is not provided.

Eligible Customers who received an E-voucher can save $50 off their total purchase price (before taxes) on their Online purchase of any eligible Samsung products made during the Offer Period.

Redemption limit of one (1) E-Voucher per transaction. Minimum purchase of $300 required in order to be able to redeem the E-Voucher. E-Voucher is single use only, non-transferable, has no cash value, and is unique to each recipient.

To redeem your E-Voucher:
• Go to www.samsung.com/ca or the Samsung Shop App during the Offer Period.
• Add your desired Samsung product(s) to your shopping cart.
• Enter your individual E-Voucher code at checkout by entering the code into the ‘Promo Code’ box in your cart. The E-Voucher will apply the $50 discount to the total pre-tax price of your purchase.*
• Complete your purchase as normal during the Offer Period by entering your shipping and payment information.

*Any amount in excess of the E-Voucher amount will be your responsibility as part of your total order cost and will be shown as part of your final order total. Any unused E-Voucher amount cannot be saved or carried over to redeem on any future transaction and will be deemed abandoned once you complete your transaction.

• Name,
• Email,
• Status (Student Permit, Work Permit, Permanent Resident),
• Length of time in Canada,
• Country of origin, and
• A copy of your valid IRCC Document.

SECA reserves the right to validate the information submitted to the Service Provider and may contact the applicant to verify the validity of the information submitted. SECA also reserves the right to add and/or refuse any user, group of users, or companies to the Program in accordance with any eligibility rules that SECA requires to be necessary at SECA’s sole discretion.
