Invitations to apply for a provincial nomination have been issued to 132 candidates in Manitoba’s Expression of Interest pool, including seven Express Entry candidates.

The April 23 draw issued invitations to candidates in Manitoba’s Skilled Workers in Manitoba,  Skilled Workers Overseas and International Education streams.

The province has issued 1,808 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) to immigration candidates in these categories so far this year. This was Manitoba’s 88th draw since the program began in April 2014.

Express Entry

Among the LAAs issued in the April 23 draw, seven went to candidates with a valid profile in the federal Express Entry system.

Candidates who qualify for the Express Entry pool are ranked based on a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score that considers human capital factors such as age, work experience, education, and language ability.

The highest-scoring candidates are invited to apply for Canadian permanent residence through regular draws from the Express Entry pool.

Those who receive a provincial nomination are awarded an additional 600 CRS points and are effectively guaranteed an invitation to apply from Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

Express Entry candidates who received a provincial nomination from Manitoba in this draw declared a valid Express Entry ID and provided a job seeker validation code.

Skilled Workers in Manitoba

A total of 93 LAAs went to candidates with an EOI in Manitoba’s Skilled Workers in Manitoba Stream, which provides a pathway to permanent residence for eligible temporary foreign workers in the province and international graduates of Manitoba post-secondary educational institutions.

In order to be considered, candidates must be working in Manitoba and have a full-time, permanent job offer from their employer, among other criteria.

Skilled worker EOIs are given a score out of 1,000 and the highest-ranked are issued LAAs.

The lowest-ranked Skilled Workers in Manitoba candidate selected in this draw had a score of 489.

Skilled Workers Overseas

Another 25 LAAs went to candidates in the Skilled Workers Overseas Stream.

Candidates selected under this category were invited directly through a Strategic Recruitment Initiative, which can include overseas recruitment missions organized by the MPNP, often in association with Manitoba employers.

Candidates for this stream are also ranked according to Manitoba’s EOI scoring system.

Skilled Worker Overseas candidates needed a score of 714 and above to be eligible for an LAA in the April 23 EOI draw.

International Education

Manitoba graduates with certain in-demand skills may be invited under the International Education Stream.

This stream includes three sub-categories: Career Employment Pathway, Graduate Internship Pathway, and the International Student Entrepreneur Pilot.

The MPNP sent out 14 LAAs to International Education Stream candidates in this draw.

No EOI minimum score was provided.
