The department issued 800 ITAs in a French-language proficiency draw.

Candidates required a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 478 to be considered.

This is the third Express Entry draw of the week. The most recent draw before this took place on November 13 and invited 400 candidates in a draw under the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) program.

Today’s draw is the third of November and follows the release of Canada’s Immigration Levels Plan for 2025. Under the Plan, IRCC aims to welcome 124,680 Express Entry candidates next year.

Those who received an ITA today will be considered in admissions targets for next year, either through the newly introduced In-Canada Focus targets for Express Entry candidates or the Federal Economic Priorities category.

The In-Canada focus target of 82,980 permanent resident admissions will have the biggest impact on temporary residents already living in Canada. This accounts for approximately 40% of Canada’s overall economic immigration admissions in 2025.

Many of these candidates will be Express Entry candidates in the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) or the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).

The Federal Economic Priorities target of 41,700 permanent resident admissions will single out candidates from all Express Entry-managed programs. They are the candidates judged by IRCC to be the best candidates to fill urgent gaps in healthcare or trade occupations or help the department meet its demographic target for French language proficiency among newcomers outside of Quebec.

What is Express Entry?

Express Entry is an application management system that oversees three prominent economic immigration programs for newcomers seeking permanent residence: the Canadian Experience Class, the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), and the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP).

Candidates in these programs are evaluated using the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). The CRS assigns point-value scores to candidates based on their human capital attributes such as their age, occupation, language ability, education, and work experience.

They may also get points for having a sibling in Canada, immigrating with a spouse or partner, or having a combination of education or work experience in Canada and abroad.

Express Entry candidates who apply through an enhanced PNP stream may get an additional 600 points toward their score, virtually guaranteeing that they receive an ITA.

Taken together, these point values add up to an overall CRS score and those with the highest scores are the most likely to get an invitation to apply in an upcoming Express Entry draw (provided they are eligible under the draw-type/ category).
